As I’m sitting here, blasting the new Black Veil Brides album through my headphones, I look up and read the title of this blog and then, remember what today is…
Yes, Valentine’s Day. Now, I’m not one who celebrates this day – own personal reasons and feeling the day is far too commercial but I’m not going into that now – but I find it amusing that the title of the blog somehow fits in with the theme of the day…love. The only difference is this love wasn’t discovered today. It was discovered a few days earlier.
But, let’s give a bit of an update on my life before I get into the main topic of this blog.
I’ve submitted my piece for the Twisted 3 anthology. Due to there being an extension in date for it – I am not sure if I mentioned that in a previous blog – I found a new idea to write for the story of the Three Little Pigs, wrote that and submitted that one in place of the first one I wrote because the first story just didn’t go in the direction I had in my mind and I wasn’t completely happy with that end result. Now, I may post it on Wattpad or I may not, I’m still deciding on that one. But, I’m hoping to hear back soon enough about my story that I’ve submitted. Hopefully, it will be accepted to be published as part of the anthology.
Holding thumbs on that one.
I’m also going to be submitting a short story to the Blank Page challenge which is really interesting. It is due at the end of February so going to get a start on that this weekend. That is an update on the writing projects side.
On a more personal note, and another thing I’m holding thumbs for and hope goes well, is a job interview I have this Friday. A change is needed so I’m hoping all goes well with that on Friday. Wish me luck!
Okay, now onto what this blog is actually supposed to be about. As the title suggests it is, indeed, love at first idea. I am so excited to announce I will be collaborating with a very close and dear friend of mine on a book series. We started talking about it this week, throwing ideas back and forth and it was a case of ‘Let’s work on this together’ and ‘Why haven’t we thought about collaborating together before?’ And with that, it was love at first idea, for both the series we have in mind and the idea of working together to create this wonderful story and bring these characters to life. Now, it’s still in the very early stages of development but I am absolutely thrilled and I just had to share it. I may not celebrate Valentine’s Day but, this is the best gift I’ve ever received for the day.
I do not want to divulge too much about what the series will focus on because it’s a really good idea and I’d hate to see it being snatched up by someone else and done by them. I know, I may be a little paranoid but, I have to keep this under lockdown because I know there are people that would do that. But, I can say that the characters will be familiar but there will just be more depth to them. And there are a lot of ideas in the mix to weave in over-arcing storylines which I am very excited to flesh out some more. Once we get started on this, I will be posting regularly for updates on what is happening with that and, perhaps, I will even be able to provide little teasers once we get some words down on paper. So, keep a look out for the updates.
If you want to follow my friend that I will be working on this with, you can find her on Twitter. Her UN is @ThatNerdyNewt. She is an absolutely wonderful, passionate young woman and I am so thankful that I met her and, as I said before, I am beyond thrilled and excited to get this project off the ground.
On a final note, I would like to point out that I’ve added another section to my website for all my graphic design things that I am doing whilst studying. I will be posting to that as I create new designs so, please, feel free to take a look. It will be on the home page of my website and, once I have built up a little more of a portfolio, I will do a blog for that.
So, I’m going to sign out now. I’m going to get myself completely lost in the beautiful voice that belongs to Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides and work on a little more visual creativity.
