Writing, Reviewing and Camping?

Yes, yes, I know, it’s been a long time since my last blog entry and yes, I know that there was talk, in the last piece, of a new story.

Well, that is still very much in the pipeline to happen. There is actually a lot that will be happening and, has already started happening so it is, naturally a time for another…

Blog Post tidbits (2).png

I think it was mentioned in the previous post that I had started a new job and it has taken me a little bit of time to get adjusted to the new working hours because, with the long hours, it means that I don’t have as much time, during the weekdays at least, to do much. But, I am finding my way around that, or have managed to do that. I just have to learn to do a little better prioritizing, especially of late. So, into the good stuff.

As the title of this post says it all, there will be writing, there will be reviewing and…camping? Yes, camping. Let’s explain a little better here.

I have exciting news on the writing front. I am currently working on a piece with a woman by the name of  Suzzanne. She and I are working on co-authoring a story and, thus far, it has been really amazing to write. It is still in the early stages, very early stages, and I will admit I was a little bit nervous about writing with someone else as I have not co-authored a story before but, she and I manage to write really well and it flows very well so I am pleased with the work thus far. At this point, I cannot give out too much information on that but, I can tell you it falls in the Fantasy genre. I believe it is going to be a really good piece once finished and polished.

Then there is the reviewing. I have recently decided to take up reviewing books that are read and signed up on a called Books Go Social, whereby they send information on books that are looking to be read and reviewed. I would like to get more into this, reviewing books and the first one that I have to review from this site is called ‘The Elevator’ by a writer called Kenneth Passan. It is a book right in my wheelhouse of falling within the paranormal and horror genres and I am looking forward to getting started on that. I have another book, which I have already started to read that I will be posting a review on called ‘Retribution’ by a writer named D.M. Kurtz. It has been a really great start to the book and I am looking forward to finishing it and doing a review. At the moment I have two books I am trying to get through, Retribution and another, throw in ‘The Elevator’ because why not, and suddenly my mind feels like I am trying to do too much at once. But, I will admit, that it feels good to have this kind of excitement to read again. It’s been a bit of a dry spell when it came to the desire to read books, so I am so happy to have found my way back to that exciting fountain again.

If there are any out there that have books or stories that they would like to be read and reviewed, please, feel free to message me and I’d be happy to do so.

Camping.  No, it’s not actual camping.

Yup, that’s right. I will be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo in July of this year and it’s during this time that, yes, more writing will be happening and it will be where my new story involving Killian Thorne will come to life. The idea I had for him will be altered a little and I believe it will be a short story that I will tell. For Camp NaNoWriMo, I have decided to do a collection of short stories for the challenge. The reason for this is because I have a story I started to write back in 2016 that has suddenly sprung to life again in my mind and I would like to dust that story off, remaster it, neaten it up a little and have that as part of the collection of stories. In all honesty, I couldn’t decide on which one to write so, I decided that I’d write both for the challenge and voila…Short Stories collection idea was born. It might be just those two stories or it might be a small set of three or four stories. There are a lot of ideas in my mind at the moment but I have a little time to sift through all of them and find which ones I’d like to add to it. I will be posting this collection to my Wattpad page. And I’ll put the link for it below.

The title of my collection of stories will be ‘Fractured’. Below is the image I created to be the ‘book cover’ for it:

Speaking of Short Stories, there is more good news that came to me this month. The story I was working on for the Twisted 3 Anthology series has been accepted. I know they are currently working on getting Twisted 2 out and into publication, and I will definitely be promoting that here and will be buying that to review too, so I am guessing that Twisted 3 will be coming out next year sometime. But I was beyond thrilled when I received the email that confirmed the acceptance of my short story. So, stay tuned for more on that.

There is a lot that has happened and will be happening, over and above the writing and the reviews and working, I am also studying. I have an online course I started for work purposes which has, at present, taken preference over the graphic design course I started but yes, my life is very busy and, in all honesty, I am thoroughly enjoying the things that have come my way, especially on the writing front.

And that’s the update I have for my quirky self.

Keep working on those dreams.
