So, here’s the story…

These simple words sum up the kind of person I am perfectly. I have always been into the strange and unusual.

I have been a creative person for as long as I can remember. All children have wild imaginations and can conjure up the most fantastical little worlds in order to keep themselves occupied for hours, but not many have that same fantastical imagination follow them through to adulthood and, thankfully, I am one of those that did.

I found my passion for writing when I was in high school. It started off with writing little fan fiction stories, my mind getting lost in the clouds of a ‘What If’ fantasy world. But, ┬áthe more I wrote, the more I found myself writing in the realms of proper fantasy, writing about vampires and werewolves and everything else found in a supernatural world. One of the biggest influences in leading me down the fantastical path of writing for the realm of the supernatural was The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Her writing style has always captivated me and managed to draw me into the world of her beautiful vampires.

I have also been a fan of horror movies, thrillers and those lovely tales that leave you feeling very…unsettled. Hence, I was drawn to the wonderful writings of Stephen King and found his horror stories to be truly terrifying. And then, by chance, I stumbled across the works of H.P. Lovecraft and I was completely in love with the stories he conjured up. I love the way in which his stories were written and I felt drawn to the ‘weird fiction’ that he created. The more I exposed myself to writers such as these notable names, the more I found my place in the world of the strange and unusual.

And for the longest time, I have always wanted to be a writer and, quite recently, discovered a passion for graphic design. So, here I am, embarking on a wonderful journey to, not only become a writer one day but also pursue a career in graphic design.

Naturally, my family thinks me to be a little mad from time to time but, they love me all the same. After all…

Thanks to a chance meeting of a fellow South African via Upwork, ┬áthe opportunity to start getting my name out into the world came along and I snatched it up and I have not regretted it for one second. He has helped me by getting my story ‘Finding Cold Haven: The Search Begins’ published on Amazon and that has only fueled the fires of creativity, even more, intensified the passion for writing even more.

So, here I am, this is me. My name is Christie-Lee Louis, I am from Durban, South Africa and this is the beginning of my journey to reach my dream.
